Is Obesity Really a Serious Disease?

Our answer is absolutely yes. Obesity has long ceased to be a personal health difficulty experienced by a group of people and has become a global problem, as worldwide research has shown and health experts have explained.

Why Should We Fight With Obesity? (with some statistics)

According to data from the World Health Organization, obesity figures have tripled since 1975. As of 2016, the number of adult overweight people in the world is 1.9 billion. More than 650 million of these are obese. In 2020, 39 million children under the age of 5 were identified as overweight. According to 2017 data, more than 4 million people die every year due to overweight and obesity-related diseases. Unfortunately, these numbers are increasing every year. It predicts that if overweight and obesity cannot be combated, 167 million children and adults in total will face overweight and obesity in 2025.

As we have mentioned before, overweight and obesity are no longer just the problem of underdeveloped countries. Citizens of developed countries also experience these serious problems. In our world, which is a global village, income inequality is at a point that no one can ignore. The climate change and food crisis must be addressed globally and measures must be taken before it reaches a point where no country can escape.

Epidemic of Overweight and Obesity

It is a fact that our future will be extremely unhealthy if this serious obesity epidemic, which threatens the world as much as Covid 19 pandemic, is not fought all over the world.

Changing environmental, socio economic and technological factors have necessitated the reshaping of living conditions and habits. Such radical changes and transformations in our lives cause us to experience relatively new but very serious diseases such as overweight and obesity.

But fortunately, these changes and developments come with their health solutions. In the field of bariatrics, great discoveries are being made. Modern medical and surgical techniques are being developed and put into practice rapidly. Very successful results are obtained in the treatment of overweight, obesity and related diseases. When modern medicine and surgeons who do their job very well and the will and will of patients to regain their health combine, we can achieve permanent and wonderful solutions. We are very proud and happy about that.
