Gastric bypass, also called Roux-en-Y (roo-en-wy) gastric bypass, is a type of weight-loss surgery that involves creating a small pouch from the stomach and connecting the newly created pouch directly to the small intestine.

Stomach balloon (called intra gastric balloon or orbera balloon – which is the popular brand of gastric balloons) belongs to the non-surgical weight loss procedures. It is also a short-term treatment, but the results are long-lasting of course.
