Obesity / Bariatric Surgery

Obesity surgery, or as it is commonly known, stomach reduction surgery can be summarized as a series of ‘closed’ interventions that are developing day by day. In bariatric surgery, the same intervention is not applied to every patient. The approach of ‘this is the only and best method’ is not adopted. However, all obesity surgeries, that is, bariatric interventions, are performed by laparoscopic, that is, closed surgery method.

It depends on your personal situation, the type of weight loss surgery you have, and the practice of the hospital or doctor. Some weight loss surgeries are done through traditional large or open incisions in your abdomen.

Today, most types of bariatric surgery are performed laparoscopically. A laparoscope is a small, tubular instrument with a camera attached. The laparoscope is inserted through small incisions in the abdomen.

The small camera at the tip of the laparoscope allows the surgeon to view and operate inside your abdomen without making traditional large incisions.

Laparoscopic surgery can make your recovery faster and shorter, but it’s not suitable for everyone.
